Responsibilities

Critical Tasks

 

The Family Consultant provides intensive homebased services (Case Management services) to families involved with the Department of Child Safety (DCS).  This position provides parenting skills training, crisis management and links families to community resources. 

  • Family Consultant will provide direct service to program participants including transportation, supervised visitation, assessment, skill building based on service plan, coordination of care with Department of Child Safety and other involved services, and linking families with needed resources.
  • In collaboration with DCS and JFCS guidelines, Family Consultant will conduct weekly home visits to establish safety and service plans. In addition, the Family Consultant will observe the children in-home, report finding and progress back to JFCS Team and DCS. 
  • Family Consultant will also provide parent education skills sessions to promote positive parenting skills.
  • Family Consultant communicates directly and regularly with other team members and outside agencies and services regarding participant needs and progress in order to ensure coordinated services that best meet the clients’ needs.

 

 

Key Performance Indicators

  • Working knowledge of child welfare system.
  • Familiarity with skill building and psycho-educational work
  • Knowledge of techniques and approaches to identify the child’s/family’s, adult’s underlying, unmet needs and can differentiate needs from services
  • Ability to adjust schedule to the needs of the client which may include working some evenings or weekends.
  • Completing all appropriate documentation within 48 hours of any and all communication with client.
  • Working knowledge of NextGen EMR system with minimal documentation errors.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings and trainings as required by JFCS and our contractual obligations with the Department of Child Safety.

 

Metrics

  • Successfully manage caseload of 6 to 7 at any given time.
  • Conduct 12 to 14 home visits per week.
  • All documentation must be completed in Electronic Medical Record system within 48 hours.
  • Complete weekly report for DCS regarding communication and progress for each client which is to be uploaded to DCS website on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Will accept Associates with 2 years of related experience.
  • One year of behavioral health or social services work experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the child welfare system strongly preferred.
  • Experience doing skill building and psycho-educational work strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children and families strongly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card without restriction(s).
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.
  • Active / Valid Arizona Auto Insurance with appropriate liability limits to meet contractual obligations.
  • MVR Report that meets JFCS criteria for driving positions. MVR report is obtained prior to employment and bi-annually during employment.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job including prolonged sitting and in certain positions driving, lifting 20lbs, walking, standing and executing dexterity with a keyboard or smart pad.

** Employees may be eligible for JFCS Fleet Auto Program after 6 months of continuous employment.

 

** Full-Time Employees are eligible for Benefits first of the month following 60 days of employment ewith JFCS.  Benefits Package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, STD / LTD, Accident insurance and more!

 

** Compensation Range:  $14.25 - $16.50 / Hour based on completed education, years of experience and internal equity.

 

** JFCS reimburses $0.51 / mile beyond your normal commute.
