Overview

  The Family Consultant 1/Parent Aide provides intensive Homebased services (case management services) to families involved with the Department of Child Safety (DCS).  This position provides parenting skills training, crisis management and links families to community resources.  Will work closely with DCS staff and other service providers.  The Family Consultant I/Parent Aide may also supervise visitation and provide transportation. Must be able to work evenings and weekends in addition to the regular workweek.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service to program participants including transportation, supervised visitation, assessment, skill-building based on service plan, coordination of care with Department of Child Safety and other involved services, and linking families with needed resources. Includes being available to families in crisis, flexible work schedule. Must maintain all of the functions for each case as assigned by supervisor.
  • Communicates directly and regularly with other team members and outside agencies and services, regarding participant needs and progress in order to ensure coordinated services that best meet the participants’ needs.
  • Completes client record documentation professionally, on-time, using the Agency’s electronic medical record system.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings, JFCS agency meetings as required, and community and client related meetings as a representative of JFCS when appropriate.
  • Participates in required and ongoing program training to increase knowledge of best practices and ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes agency mandated personnel documentation accurately and in a timely manner, i.e., timesheets, mileage forms, supervision and training logs, etc.

Qualifications

 Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

  • One year of behavioral health or social services work experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the child welfare system.
  • Experience doing skill building and psycho-educational work.

Experience working with children and families.
